What We Offer

Indoor & Outdoor Arenas

Enjoy exclusive access to our two sand and fibre arenas. Our 60×30m outdoor arena features a full set of show jumps and can be set for a long dressage arena with our markers. The 20×40m indoor arena has an automatic watering system to maintain a consistent surface, ensuring you can ride in comfort whatever the Scottish weather.

Beyond the arenas, discover endless off-road adventures across the farm and onto the scenic Tyne Esk Riding Route

Horse Care

Pamper your horse in our undercover hot wash bay and equine solarium, with convenient tie-ups and hose booms  make daily care effortless.

A secure round pen is available for restricted turnout when rest and recovery are needed.

The Coffee Bothy is a welcoming spot to rest during farrier visits or after a busy morning on the yard.

Grass Turnout

70 acres  pasture, divided into smaller paddocks with permanent electric fencing to ensure optimal grazing. Horses live in small, settled groups with mares and geldings kept separately to reduce stress and encourage harmony.

Every field is equipped with automatic water troughs, providing fresh water at all times

Secure Storage

Our yard is fully covered by CCTV for your safety and peace of mind. Benefit from secure tack rooms and dedicated rug storage with separate dry containers for feed storage. There’s  ample room for shavings if you prefer bulk purchases, though local feed merchants make weekly deliveries direct to the yard. To complete the convenience, we also provide on-site parking for your trailer or horsebox.

DIY Livery

DIY livery at Thornton combines daily turnout and spacious, purpose-built loose boxes for your horse. Most stables are undercover, offering excellent protection from the elements and keeping everything conveniently close to hand.

Your livery includes hay or haylage. Paddocks are just a short walk from the stables, making daily routines simple and convenient. DIY liveries are  free to turn out full time during the summer months if desired. This flexibility allows you to create the set-up that best suits you and your horse.

Grass livery

Grass liveries enjoy natural shelter in well maintained paddocks, managed year-round to provide suitable grazing and minimise winter mud. During the colder months we provide hay in the fields, fed in Haybell feeders —included in the price.

The Grass yard has dedicated tack and feed storage and for added flexibility, you can also make use of pay-as-you-go stabling, ideal for show preparation, rest and recovery, or during poor winter weather.

While we don’t provide additional horse care services directly, we welcome trusted freelance grooms onto the yard and are happy to recommend reliable, experienced professionals who can assist with your horse’s day-to-day needs.
